May and June are going to be some Mister Miracle style tricks to survive.

Right now I am working on a freelance web gig to finish this week. The week after I hope to start at least one more! These jobs will go to pay for Heroes Con where I’ll be displaying under Nerdcenaries and Friends.

In addition I will have two Kickstarters to hopefully print, staple and mail though each day makes that seem a little less likely. Hooray for panic and non responsive collaborators!

And Sounds In Space should be wrapping up to go out next month which means I need to put on my rap hat. For rapping.

I also hope to finish Prison Spaceship so that my collaborator on that can get his art done so we can present that.

And I am still writing weekly pieces for Nerdy With Children. Check out my two pieces on Free Comic Book Day! The Preview and the Review!

And this is also the last week of the very beneficial Gender Through Comic Books class!

And in the meantime, the last page of ERAS Parrish went up.

At least I have you, Justice League Unlimited on Netflix Instant! (And Bejeweled 3).

Due to hunk discriminatory laws though, many of them ended up forming hunk towns – crudely assembled burgs where they would huddle around a can expecting food to appear. When a hunk would die, their belief would turn out to be correct as the hunk would be quickly cannibalized. The hunks which grew more and more feral over time were eventually brought back into mainstream society when a young man named Adolpho Woxly found the hunks as a strong and easily manageable work source.

So Ted’s devotion to being a masculine money earning male while also forcing himself to always be viewed as a hero has removed the one person who loved him from his life. I totally support Gabby on making her ultimatum for Ted because the dude could find other work but he is caught up in having to be the main bread earner for the couple.
I kind of regret not having gone into more detail with the room because it is pretty sparse but I think James did an excellent job balancing the light and the dark of the room. It isn’t as huge and mansion-esqe (good band name) seeming as I’d prefer but it works.
Time to see where this shame spiral leads!

So Ted has become a good enough boxer to actually win matches and he ended up with a belt. But Ted’s sister leaves and his entire drive, his target of white knighting vanishes and he started losing again and soon hung up the gloves. Distraught, Ted picks up work at the movie studio as a crew member till he meets Gabby. She was having issues with her makeup so Ted taught her some tricks.

Not pictured is Ted working on prosthetics which leads to him also becoming an actor and starring in movies. I compressed too much and ultimately – none of the origin is needed, especially because of how unclear it is.

And here is the page in black and white.

So this is part 1 of what was supposed to be the big revealing origin of Ted Parrish and how he got where he was. I’d hoped it would be clear enough on its own but it wasn’t (so if I ever rerelease it I’d add in some captions).

Here though is the artistic intent:

Ted had an older sister (name not given which is kind of horrible on my part – and the fact that people thought she was his mother). His sister got routinely catcalled and Ted being a tough little kid tried to stand up for her and got beaten. Ted’s father, a pastor (Pastor Parrish haha) didn’t like his son getting into fights and scolded him. Ted’s sister liked that he was trying to help her (here is another issue, beyond catcalls we never get the sense of any impropriety, there is no need for Ted to fight), so she ends covering up the bruises. Time goes by and it still happens so Ted keeps fighting but he’s learned to cover up the bruises with makeup by himself. It is this feminine/masculine irony where the boxer is so afraid of his father that he uses makeup to hide his bruises. End Part 1.

I still like the idea, it was just unclear. Was he an orphan, was that his mom? So on and so forth.

Still, better to try and fail than…never succeed.

And as always, here is the page in black and white.

It has been about three weeks since I last posted so let’d play catchup.

Both of my fundraisers/crowdfunding projects ended up succeeding. Those were The Tomb of Naomi and Sounds In Space.

I completed a new portfolio website in about a day with pretty much total hand coding. I also did some touch ups for another site that I don’t believe I can link to.

I’ve been working on the next comic scripts for ERAS: Fung, Prison Spaceship and I’ve been doing some planning for the comic version of Pharaoh and Ibis.

I’ve been editing work for a friend, I’ve been working on getting myself a job and I’ve been getting paid very little for it.

ERAS: Parrish will update over the next two days – tried for all three posts today but Comicpress was being stupid.

That is all for now.
